Nintendo Virtual Boy

Virtual Boy was a video game console, launched in 1995 by Nintendo, which used a projector-style glasses to show the games in "real" 3d (although monochrome), by means of a stereoscopic effect. The starting price was about 180, 000. The console was designed by Gunpei Yokoi, creator of the Nintendo Game Boy, but it was not an attempt to replace the Game Boy in the Nintendo product line. Nintendo tried to use the console to take advantage in the recent interest in the virtual reality produced by films like the Lawn Mower (1992) and by certain virtual reality arcade games, such as Virtua Racing Sega. The console failed. It did not reach market in Europe. According to the public, it is one of the worst consoles in history and the biggest failure of Nintendo.
