Neo Geo

Neo-Geo is the name of a 16-bit system based on cartridges for arcades as well as video consoles for the home launched in 1990 by the Japanese video game company SNK (temporarily renamed to SNK Playmore). The system technology offered 2d graphics, and sound quality far superior to that offered by other home systems of his time. At first the Neo-Geo system was created as a platform for recreational machines, later it was also available as a home video game console at a price too high for many, 700 dollars, thus leading to two versions of the system: the arcade system, MVS, acronym of Multi Video System (multi video System), and the domestic system, AES, acronym of Advanced Entertainment System.

Popular games like Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown and mainly Metal Slug and KOF were published and formed part of this system.
